  1. Last January I took a giant step and I decided to move to NYC. I have been living in Switzerland for four years with my wife who I had married since 2011, my wife and I decided that it was time to have a new experience. In the beginning, I was a little worried because I was changing a peaceful and stable life for a different and busy place.
The first thing I wanted to do before making this important decision was to talk about this changing with my wife. We had first moved in together in Switzerland and we had a good experience but in New York it could be different because we would be living in a different and stressful culture.
My life in NYC is beginning to straighten. I have been playing soccer in a good team, and I have received an opportunity to be a referee in the same league that I play.
Looking back, I think that my wife and I made the right decision. I feel good about having a lot of leisure facilities in NYC. I have been using PATH to go to Manhattan and I don't need a car anymore. Sometimes I miss my preview life in Switzerland, but for the most part, I enjoy this place.

  2. On my vacation of this year, I decided to make a course of english to improved and enjoy to know a new country. I chose NYC because it´s one of the best cities of the world and my company that I have been working in Brazil has a unit here in NYC.
I arrived on April 26th and I´m gonna leave this city on May 25th to travel to Orlando. After I´m gonna stay until May 31th when I come back to Brazil.
I have been walking a lot to know the most famous places of NYC and I´m loving that.
After the class, all afternoon, I have been going to Cushman & Wakefield to learn more about the methodologies, standards, assumptions,.. anything that I can do. The people of the office are so nice and friendly.
There is a great opportunity to make new friends, networking, change experiences.
I believe that it has been a great opportunity to know different people, culture, places, etc. So I´ll remember of this month forever.

    Kind regards

  3. Last month, all student of my school had to move in NY. So I did it too. It was a big thing. As well as, I’m afraid when I take a flight… Fortunately I arrived without problems.
First I’ve been looking for an apartment only for 3months, it wasn’t easy because my English is far far a way to be perfect…
I found a co-location with French friends, it’s not the better way to improve our English but live in NY was already a giant step. I never have been in other continents than Europe.
Now I live in Harlem East, I admit, I was worried because I heard a lot of thing about “Harlem” but finally my neighborhoods seems nice if you don’t disturb them! However it’s very noisy and homeless always ask you for money.
I have been walking a lot to know all famous places of NYC and I would like to travel on Washington and Boston, I’m a real tourist, I took picture of everything, even school bus because this city gives impression of I’m in a movie.
I live next to central park so I have been running a few times there. I think it’s my favorite place in NY.
When sundown, we found few club very nice to have fun!

In march i took an important decision whose was to come in NYC for studied english. I have been living in my parent's home and i thought that i had to discover different culture, place in different culture. The school where i have been studying was in english and i saw that i have some difficulties for followed the course.
I was a little worried about be in an other country where i didin't know the rules and the law.
The fiist thing that i have to do was to find a good appartment with enough space and not so expensive and i finally found it.
the first day when i arrived i've been looking for food store and all the stuff that i needed everyday.

  5. In my younger days,I tried to avoid a change in my life. But last year I took a big step and moved to New York. I have been living with my older sister and her family before I moved to New York. In the beginning, it was very difficult because I was like a child and also I was very shy.
My mother has lived in NY since 2010. Probably this fact influenced my decision. Saying goodbye to life in Kazakhstan I moved to US.
Life in another country is difficult, specially if you don't speak the language. I went to English courses, but I was afraid to speak in English and it was a huge problem for me. Confidence came when I found a job. But also with confidence came other things like reliability and responsibility.
My old job was like a helper. I made money and I had a lot of practice of speaking in English language. I have been working for 10 months. I think I could work more, but I needed to quit because of my boyfriend who I met at workplace. He changed my mind about marriage and now we are going to get married. This is a second change in my new life and I welcome it.
Looking back, I definitely think that I made the right decision. I feel really happy about living here because if I hadn't move I wouldn't have a better life now.

  6. I moved In New York City in january 2015. I had decided to move here a year ago when I was thinking about taking a year off to find myself.

Moving here has been changing my whole life. I had always dreamed about taking a year off to move abroad for starting a new life and for trying to change all my flaws. Right now, I think that I have made big steps In this way and I'm pretty proud of my accomplishments. I haven't reached all my goals but the most important I think, it's to do our best in everything that we do and actually, I think that I do.

It's true that sometimes I miss my friends and family but it doesn't bother me as much as I was thinking. Also, knowing that I am a lonely person I can handle the fact that I am all alone here.

Looking back, I am really happy to have made this choice because now I really know who I wanna be and where I wanna go. It's not easy everyday I have to admit but, which things are easy in life? Each day is another day and each day is an other fight.

  7. I arrived on March. It was my first time to stay foreign country. I had really worried about to study abroad because my English is usually incorrect. My parents also had worried about me.

I started to study English in NYLC on April 6th. I started level 5. I was surprised at classmate’s good English skill. In first week, I was always frustrated that I couldn’t say anything in English and make friends. I had felt as if I’m always loner for a week.

I have been taking level 6 class sense my second week started. To be frank, I sometime couldn’t understand the class because our teacher speaks English very fast. I have been recording the class every day and listening to the recorder after I got home. It was helpful for me to improve listening skill and learning vocabulary. Recently, I have been able to understand the class and talk to my classmates.

I really enjoy being in NY because I can make any other country’s friends. They know anything that I didn’t know. When I was in japan, studying English is just on the desk. But in NY, to talk to friends, to hang out with friends or to go shopping and talk to shoppers are studying English. I think it is very nice way to improve my English.

  9. Last Christmas, I decided to come back to NYC for improving my English for two months. So I considered that spring was going to be the nicest time to enjoy this city, as if I did last year.
In the begging, I was a little worried because the Coca-Cola legal issues, but I though I was waiting for news about one year and it was no fair being paralyzed my life because of this company.
A colleague has just told me that perhaps I should be in Spain next week. Honestly, I'm a little upset with all this.
The more time goes through, the less I understand this situation.
The first step I wanted to do was to buy the plane ticket, then I had to start searching an apartment. I looked at many studios on internet, and my friend Marta visited four or five, after I decided one near her house and my last year's neighborhood.
Marta and her friends had been considering me as if I was one of them. I had been invited to parties, brunch, anyplan! Even though, we're planning a trip to Formentera this summer.
Looking back, I definitely think that I made the right decision. I feel it was a proper idea to come back to NYC this two months.
What a pity i'm not able to spend other two months!

  10. The story of a young girl with dreams and goals to be achieved and how I have been able to move from Spain to NYC was a very big decision for me, which required a lot of planning and courage. Because I had balanced my life very well through all the circumstances of life before moving to NYC, for example the laborer situation was becoming very hard upon the citizens of my country, and it is still very difficult these days to get good employment that pays well enough to be able to afford better living, better education, etc. There was way too much of competition amongst the students for higher grades to be able to get hired. I thought about making an investment and to bring moving to NYC into a fact, which has also helped me clear my mind a lot.

Even though I had been living in Spain, I have been able to keep close contact with my relatives residing in New Jersey, a city next to NYC. My relatives here have been very helpful and available since i have moved to NYC.

In conclusion,i have been very comfortable here, just experiment the experience of making mine a big city like this makes me feel very proud of myself .If I until today i have been surviving in this city I will be able to do survive in anyplace .

  11. Six months ago I took a decision about to make a big change in my life and move to The United States. At the beginning only the fact to think about it, was scared to me, because change means leave behind many things and people, like family and friends, that are really important to me. And replace all of that for the experience to live in another Country with a different Culture and language that, I even can’t speak well. But, thinking about the idea of having the opportunity to live in New York, sounded like a dream.

Before moving, I was thinking about all the things that I could bring with me, and other that I would have to leave in México because is difficult to travel with a lot of stuff. So at the end of the day I sold my car, I gave away my wedding presents and I let clothes to my sisters and friends that I couldn’t wear.

When I arrived to New York City, the first weeks were hard, because the weather was so cold, in compare to México, was difficult to find an apartment, open a bank account and have all papers that you need to rent a house, but I found good friends and they explained and help me.

And now, three months later, I realized that changes are not always difficult if you work hard and if you’re prepared to get them. I’m living in Manhattan, learning English, making new friends and enjoying every day of my New Life!

  12. “NY is similar to Tokyo.” When My first time I had came to NY, thought that. I love Tokyo Japan. Because, Tokyo have a lot of exciting things. For example, there are many brand new store and various event. Then perhaps we can meet a famous person(actor or musician or etc.)on the street. Also, NY have such a things so, I love NY too. As a matter fact, I prefer the city to the country.

Now, I have been in NY about a month. Every week, I go to run and yoga to central park. Sometimes, I go to various flea every place of NY hold. I have been enjoying everyday. Then, I'm looking foward to watch the shakespeare show in central park and the independence day. All of them are great stimulus for me.

Otherwise, There are a lot of opportunity to have come across many people from other country. I've learned a great deal from them.

All of experience help to widen my knowledge and my sensitivity. I have gained ambition of live life to the full.

  13. Last year in august 18 I had a big change that was moving to N.Y.C.

In the beginning I didn't feel like going there, Because it is two days of travelling is so barring. And during the flight we were having a turbulent, and the guy who was sitting next to me had gotten dizzy.

So the difference that I had noticed was the education. The educations here are so easy to understand and the teachers have a good behaviors. And I realized that the people here are good,I have been realizing that people here are good because of the way they were talking on the airplane they seemed so respectfull.

In spite of that one of the huge that I didn't expect is to have this kind of classmates,I had never thought that I could be in the same classroom with this kind of people. They are so simple and also the teachers, I am really grateful of them.

  14. Last February I took a giant chance and moved to NYC. I had been living in Bogotá for sixteen years with my family, and I was offered to come to NYC. In the beginning, I was a little scared because I would be assuming a great challenge of living in the capital of the world. I was also a little concerned about feeling pressured, but I knew it was important to have the the experience of being learning about the whole world every day.
The first thing I wanted to do before coming was to talk to my family and friends. Only me had moved in here because my two sisters were already studying.
I looked at all the pros and cons about coming before making up my mind. I finally decided to come because I knew that here I would get new skills — useful to my future and what I hope I will do —.
My new lifestyle is making me more reflexive and wittier. I have been looking for new ideas to develop in my city by the time I will be there back and, why not, in other places too.
Looking back, I definitely think that I made the right decision, I feel really good about living here. I feel more confident and responsible. Sometimes I feel a little lonely, but for the most part, I enjoy being to new places and having new experiences.
